Basic retouching is HIGHLY recommended for all headshots.
Basic retouching normally takes 10-30mins to "pop" the eyes, whiten teeth, remove temporary blemishes and most stray objects.
Other minor retouching includes overall or partial lighten/darken, minimize wrinkles/scars, define eyebrows, smoothing skin, skin color conformity,
reduce glare, tilt image, define iris edges, etc...
The more you prepare prior for your shoot, the less retouching is necessary...
YOUR BODY with lots of rest and good water, No salt or alcohol several days before shoot;
YOUR FACE with exfoliation/tweezing and professional make up application;
YOUR HAIR with a good styling, updated coloring, de-frizzing; and
YOUR CLOTHING with good ironing and de-fuzzing any picks, balls, or strings. Inspect your clothing carefully!
